Roles of Quality Management

according to ISO 9001

 

Roles in TQM define responsibilities for processes and process steps. The standard results in consistent basic requirements (what is the requirement) for the individual roles, whose detailed characteristics (how is the requirement perceived) can vary company-specifically. These company specifics are usually defined in the job descriptions of the roles. Executive Summary of TQM-relevant Roles

 

Superordinate roles with process-relevant QM context

 

Account Manager

The Account Manager is the staff member of sales responsible for the respective involved customer.

 

Application Manager

The Activity Responsible is in charge for the operationalization of defined activities.

 

Business Controller

The Business Controller is the role in charge for the different business units of the enterprise within the controlling department.

 

Business Unit

Business Units are the operational units within the organizational structure which are responsible for the core processes of the enterprise.

 

CFO (Chief Financial Officer)

Manager of Finance and Controlling according to the organizational structure.

 

CIO (Chief Information Officer)

Manager of the IT department according to the organizational structure.

 

Compliance Manager

The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that standards and guidelines are followed.

 

Controlling Manager

Manager of the controlling department according to the organizational structure.

 

Customer

Customers of the enterprise are external recipients or products and/or services against payment.

 

Facility Manager

The Facility Manager is the manager of the organizational unit in charge for the infrastructure according to the organizational structure.

 

Human Resource Department

The organizational unit in charge of staff resources and qualification.

 

Human Resource Development Manager

Manager of the organizational unit in charge for the development of human resources according to the organizational structure.

 

Human Resources Manager

Manager of the human resource department according to the organizational structure.

 

Information Technology

The organizational unit responsible for the provision of IT services.

 

Knowledge Manager

The  primary goal of the Knowledge Manager is to improve efficiency by reducing the need to rediscover already existing knowledge.

 

Manager Risk Management

Manager of risk management according to the organisational structure.

 

Organizational Manager

The Organizational Manager is the responsible role for an organizational unit (from organization structure or process organization point of view) according to the organizational structure.

 

Procurement

The organizational unit in charge for procurement of all relevant supplies of products and/or services.

 

Procurement Manager

Manager of the procurement department according to the organizational structure.

 

Product Manager

The Product Manager is responsible for a certain product/service over its life-cycle.

 

Production Manager

Manager of production according to the organizational structure.

 

Risk Manager

The Risk Manager is responsible for the overall risk identification and avoidance strategy, including all controls and measures to achieve this.

 

Risk Responsible

The Risk Responsible accounts for the implementation and execution of activities against the risks accounted for.

 

Sales Manager

Manager of sales department according to organizational structure.

 

Supplier

External suppliers of services and/or products,where the scope of supply is defined in the underlying supplier contracts.

 

Top Management

The Top Management is the finally deciding board according to the organizational structure.

Activity Responsible

The Activity Responsible is in charge for the operationalization of defined activities.

 

Controller Quality Management

The Controller Quality Management is the role in charge for the quality management of the enterprise within the controlling department.

 

Document Owner

The document owner is the responsible role for a controlled document from the content definition perspective.

 

Document Responsible

The Document Responsible is in charge for the content and creation of the respective controlled document.

 

Manager Process Organization

Manager of the process organization according to the organizational structure.

 

Originator of Improvement Proposal

The Originator of Improvement Proposal is the person who initially created and posted the improvement proposal.

 

Originator of Modification Demand

The Originator of Modification Demand is the person who initially created and posted the modification demand.

 

Process Manager

The Process Manager supports all process participants in the execution of the process and measures the success of the process.

 

Process Owner

The Process Owner is responsible for the process design, ensures the budgetary means and resources for the friction-free operation of the process and is responsible for the process result.

 

Quality Assessor

The Quality Assessor is responsible for the coordination and implementation of self-assessments.

 

Quality Assurance

The organizational unit in charge of all activities for ensuring and controlling the quality of products and/or services.

 

Quality Assurance Manager

Manager of the operational quality assurance according to the organizational structure.

 

Quality Auditor

Der Quality Auditor is responsible for the objective evaluation of the organization's quality management system (QMS).

 

Quality Manager

The Quality Manager is responsible for the entire quality management system of the company and cares for the management of the life cycle of the quality management system (QMS) of the organization.

 

Record Responsible

The Record Responsible is in charge for the content, the procedure for creation of contents and the compilation of the respective controlled record.

 

Staff Member Calibration

The Staff Member Calibration is in charge for operational calibration and adjustment in the area of operational quality management.

 

Staff Member Quality Assurance

The Staff Member Quality Assurance is responsible for operational tasks of quality assurance (especially quality tests).

 

User of Test Equipment

The User of Test Equipment is the quality assurance employee appropriately qualified for the use of dedicated test equipment.
